Preschool child drowns in Ilocos Norte

CAMP JUAN, Ilocos Norte – A preschool child drowned on a river in Barangay 5, San Ramon, Vintar, Ilocos Norte, on Wednesday, August 14.

Police said the four-year-old victim was from Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

Investigation said the boy and his family went to the Bislak River for lunch. The boy’s father noticed that he was missing when they were about to leave.

One of their relatives found the victim submerged on the riverbed. The victim was rescued and taken to the riverside.

The municipal Rural Health Unit tried to revive the victim but he was declared dead.

Police reminded the people to exercise caution while conducting activities on the river.

Four days earlier on Sunday, August 11, another child drowned after she was carried away by the strong current while crossing the river with his father.
