TACLOBAN CITY – The provincial government of Northern Samar, through the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (PEDIPO), together with Envision Energy, is planning to install wind turbines in the municipality of Allen.
The project which involves the installation of approximately 30 wind turbines capable of generating around 200 megawatts will be put up in 100 to 500 hectares of land.
It will be the first wind turbine project by Envision Energy in the Philippines.
Envision Energy, known worldwide for its cutting-edge renewable energy solutions, has conducted feasibility studies in the province.
The company, which prides itself on “solving the challenges for a sustainable future,” is at the forefront of reducing the costs associated with renewable energy production, storage, and synergy through technological innovation.
Their comprehensive approach to energy transformation includes smart wind turbines, energy storage, and green hydrogen solutions.
Envision Energy said that among the potential investment opportunities that could be explored in Northern Samar is sustainable car battery factories, a venture that aligns with their focus on green technology.
They also said that they would engage in discussions with their sister companies about additional investment prospects.
Gov. Edwin Ongchuan said that studies have shown that wind speeds in key areas in Northern Samar have greater potential compared to other existing wind turbine projects in other provinces.
He reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the project, noting that the One-Stop-Action Center established by PEDIPO would play a pivotal role in streamlining the process for investors.
Envision's onshore wind farm is the sixth ongoing and proposed green energy ventures in Northern Samar. The others are Lihangin's onshore wind farm in San Isidro, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners' offshore wind farm from Bobon to Laoang, EBTech's hydroelectric power plant in San Isidro, Ranyag Energy's solar farm in Bobon, and Energies PH's ocean (tidal) power project.
