The Sangguniang Bayan unanimously approved a resolution in its regular session this week urging MORE Power to “immediately implement the expansion of their operations in the municipality of Pavia and explore the potential for a Joint Venture Agreement with ILECO I.”
MORE Power has been operating here since 2020 when it took over the franchise of Panay Electric Co. (PECO).
A law passed in 2022 allowed the expansion of MORE Power operations to towns covered by ILECO in Iloilo, including Pavia.
The resolution authored by Councilors Jose Maria “Pyt” Trimañez and Danniel Fajardo II was issued two weeks after the Supreme Court ruled that MORE Power’s expansion is legal.
The resolution also cited the successful joint venture in Negros Occidental province between Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) and MORE Power.
“MORE Power is encouraged to proceed with its expansion in Pavia, responding to the enduring call for enhanced service and affordable rates,” added the resolution.
