DTI, PDEA vow to halt sale of drug-laced vape products
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to crack down on vape products containing illegal drugs.

DTI Assistant Secreatry Agaton Teodoro Uvero said the MOA aims to tackle the pressing need for strong and proactive actions in identifying and probing illicit substances that are seeping into consumer goods, especially vape products.
“This agreement leverages the combined resources and expertise of the DTI and the PDEA to ensure product safety and protect the public—particularly our youth— from the infiltration of illegal drugs, including marijuana-infused vapes,” said Uvero, who also the Fair Trade Group Supervising head.
Meanwhile, PDEA Undersecretary Virgilio M. Lazo said the collaborative partnership with the DTI is a proactive step to combat and dismantle the distribution networks of products containing illegal drugs.
The PDEA will collaborate closely with the DTI and other relevant law enforcement agencies to identify and probe any leads or information regarding illicit drug-infused vape products and other consumer goods.
This recently executed agreement reaffirms the commitment of the DTI and the PDEA to enforce Republic Act (RA) No. 11900, also known as the Vape Law, and Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This collaboration expands on the previous initiatives of the DTI, including a session conducted by the DTI in June along with the PDEA and major e-commerce platforms, where they deliberated on measures to address the presence of vape products infused with marijuana in the market.
In July, the DTI released Department Administrative Order (DAO) No. 24-03, Series of 2024, prohibiting the online sale of vape products due to their significant risk to the health and safety of minors.
Consumers are encouraged to notify the DTI Consumer Care Hotline (1-384) or via email at [email protected] regarding any retailers selling uncertified consumer products.
