The Chargers showcased their depth and rallied from a shaky start behind the efforts of Oly Okaro, who exploded for 30 points built on 28 kills, to claim their seventh straight victory in as many outings.
Ivy Lacsina also continued to provide steady presence for Akari, firing 17 attacks to finish with 19 points, while Michelle Cobb displayed an all-around game by managing 18 excellent sets on top of nine points highlighted by four aces.
Despite keeping their record pristine, Akari coach Taka Minowa said they needed a strong start to keep their momentum going.
“All the games I think are all the same. Ever since, the first set is very weak and today, it happened again. We really need to fix it if we’re going to be a championship team because now we’re lucky,” he said.
The Chameleons fell to their sixth loss in seven games, kissing their quarterfinal bid goodbye.
Meegan Hart and Chiara Permentilla tried to put up a fight for Nxled by combining for 27 points, to no avail.
Meanwhile, Cignal had to dig deep on its defensive plays to outhustle a persistent Galeries Tower side by posting 15 blocks including three each from MJ Perez and Riri Meneses.
Perez was equally unstoppable on all fronts, pumping in 34 points including 31 kills, while skipper Ces Molina was equally explosive at the attack line and finished with 19 points.
Cignal’s win -- its sixth in seven games -- tightened its grip on the second spot while pushing Galeries Tower to its seventh consecutive defeat in as many appearances.
