BUTUAN CITY – Six New People’s Army rebels surrendered to the police in the Caraga region on Wednesday, August 14.

The PRO 13-Regional Operations Division identified them as Jul, 60, and Jon, 33, who yielded in Agusan del Sur; Saski, 34, who surrendered in Butuan City; and Ton-ton, Alden, and Roel.
They turned over one caliber .357 revolver with bullets, one shotgun without ammunition, one rifle grenade, one .38 caliber revolver with six bullets, and one M203 40mm ammunition.
“The government’s comprehensive whole-of-nation approach addressing the remaining insurgency in some parts of the region has been yielding remarkable results in the final phase in eliminating (remaining NPA rebels) in our area of jurisdiction,” said Police Regional Office-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Alan M. Nazarro.
“They are already tired at gusto nilang maging productive na sa kanilang (and they want to be productive in their) respective community, with their families,” he added.
“We welcome them as they return to mainstream society. Let us help them rebuild their lives that were once exploited by Communist Terrorist Group (CTG).”
The surrenderers will undergo personal profiling and custodial debriefing before they can avail themselves of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said.
