The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has launched a search and rescue mission to locate a 23-year old fisherman who went missing after their boat collided with a large vessel off the waters of Masbate.
In a statement, the PCG said the incident happened at 2 a.m. on Aug. 10 involving the fishing boat of brothers 37-year old Roland and 23-year old Roldan Marientes.
The elder Marientes said the collision occurred in the waters between Burias Island in Masbate and Sibuyan Island in Romblon.
The impact caused the two to be thrown out of their fishing boat.
The elder Marientes was rescued by the crew of a vessel five hours after the incident.
"The Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) San Pascual in Masbate is actively conducting search and rescue (SAR) operations and working with nearby barangays and local fishermen to find the missing fisherman," the PCG said.
