Malabon LGU launches ‘Libreng Burol’ program

The Malabon City government launched its “Libreng Burol” program on Tuesday, August 14.

The Malabueños can use the chapel at the back of the multi-purpose hall on Sangciangco Street in Barangay Catmon as a place to mourn for their deceased family members.

"Ramdam namin ang bigat na pasan ng mga pamilya sa tuwing mayroon silang mahal sa buhay na pumanaw. Maraming alalahanin kasabay ng kanilang pagluluksa. Kaya naman ating inilunsad itong Libreng Burol program upang makabawas sa kanilang mga iisipin habang inaalala ang kanilang mga minamahal (We feel the heavy burden of the families every time a loved one passes away. There are many worries along with their mourning. That's why we launched this Free Burol program to reduce their concerns while remembering their loved ones)," Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.

Residents may fill up a chapel reservation slip to apply for the program at Barangay Catmon Super Health Center from Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Once approved, the family of the deceased will be advised regarding their schedule based on the availability of the chapel.

Meanwhile, nine Ahon Blue card beneficiaries received cash assistance on Monday, August 12.

Each beneficiary received P5,000 which they can use for burial expenses. The cash aid is part of the Malabon Ahon Blue card Burial and Hospitalisation Assistance launched in July that aims to make processes for financial help faster and more convenient.

The City Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning Office said that Malabueños in need of help for their hospitalization and burial expenses may visit the MABC Office front desk on the 4th floor of Malabon City Hall to apply for the program.

They should bring a photocopy of the claimant’s voter’s ID or certification, notarized declaration form of household composition form, registered death certificate, valid ID of the deceased, or the certified true copy of the medical abstract with a notation that the patient is currently admitted, and the patient’s valid ID. The beneficiaries will first undergo an assessment for the cash aid.

All applications for the burial and hospitalization assistance will be processed within 24-48 hours after completing the application procedure.
