FDA cautions vs unregistered chicken oil, yema spread

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday, Aug. 14 warned the public against purchasing and consuming five unregistered food products, including a brand of chicken oil and yema spread.
The agency said that through post-marketing surveillance, it confirmed that the following food products—Chicken Inasal Oil, Jairah’s Yema Spread, Qiao Mei Wei Shi Zhong Guo Shu Cui (in foreign language), Golden PW Cooking Oil 100% Pure Palm Oil, and Mix Biscuits Delicious and Assorted Biscuits—are not registered and do not have corresponding Certificates of Product Registration (CPR).
The FDA also cautioned against the purchase and consumption of unregistered food supplements—XXtreme Power Whey Protein Gummy Bears and Enerpeak Nattocur Nattokinase Curcumin, Turmeric, Piperine Dietary Food Supplement.
Under Republic Act No. 9711, otherwise known as the “Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009,” the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without proper authorization is prohibited.
Since these unregistered food products have not undergone the FDA’s evaluation process, the agency cannot guarantee their quality and safety.
All concerned establishments are warned not to distribute, advertise, or sell the mentioned food products until CPRs are issued.
Failure to comply will result in strict regulatory actions and sanctions.
The FDA advised the public to always check if a product is registered by using its verification portal, look for the FDA Registration number on the product label, if available, or search for the product name.
