European Union Ambassador to Manila Luc Veron has many experiences in the Philippines he holds dear, but one that he would remember fondly is buying “taho” or sweet silken tofu for breakfast.

In one of his #KwentoNiLuc’s series on X (formerly Twitter), the ambassador shared that Filipino culture is best experienced through its food.
 

“#KwentoNiLuc I've always made it a point to explore Filipino culture, and this is one of the best ways—through food!,” he wrote.
 

“#MeriendaNiLuc has refined my local experience (& taste buds) forever. Here's one I remember fondly: buying taho for breakfast just outside the office,” the envoy added.
 

Veron even shared a photo of himself while buying taho from the local vendor.
 

Taho, traditionally peddled and sold on the streets in the morning as vendors carry two canisters on their shoulders.
 

Taho is made of fresh or silken tofu sweetened with arnibal (caramelized brown sugar) and sago (tapioca pearls). It is known as a staple comfort food for Filipinos all over the country.
 

The EU ambassador will soon end his tour of duty in the country as he recently held meetings with Philippine officials to bid farewell.
 

Over the years, the envoy has been an avid fan of Filipino delicacies. Some of the snacks he tried were the kwek-kwek, kikiam, chickenballs, pili nuts, peach mango pie, Choc Nut, and taho, among others.
