BACOLOD CITY – The City Health Office reported that a 68-year-old man died of dengue, the second suspected fatality here from the viral disease this year.

Dr. Grace Tan, head of the CHO Environment and Sanitation Division, said on Wednesday, August 14, that the elderly patient was a resident of Barangay Felisa.
He suffered from fever on July 16 and passed away on July 30, Tan added.
An 18-year-old girl from Barangay Estefania was the first dengue fatality here this year.
She had fever on July 19 and was admitted to a hospital two days later. She died on July 27.
The CHO has logged 434 dengue cases as of August 3, 36.9 percent higher than last year’s 317 cases with three deaths from January to August.
Barangays with high dengue cases this year are Taculing, 60; Bata, 41; Villamonte, 32; Granada, Estefania, and Mansilingan with 27 each; Cabug, 24; Alijis, 21; Banago and Mandalagan with 20 each; Tangub, 17; and Sum-ag, 16.
