Early quarterfinalists Akari and Cignal try to sustain their momentum when they take on separate struggling foes on Thursday, Aug. 15, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The Chargers (6-0) stake their unbeaten run when they clash with sister team Nxled Chameleons (1-5) at 3 p.m., while the HD Spikers (5-1) square off with the winless Galeries Tower Highrisers (0-6) at 5 p.m.
Capital1, which sits at joint fourth with a 4-2 record, also aims to ride on the crest of its three-game winning run including a tough five-setter against Nxled last Saturday when they meet Farm Fresh in the 1 p.m. curtain raiser.
The Foxies, which sport a 2-4 card for a share of eighth with the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, still have a chance to advance to the next stage through the backdoor, but would need consistent efforts from the crew headed by Yeny Murillo and Trisha Tubu.
But expect them to have a tough time against the Solar Spikers spearheaded by Marina Tushova, who showed no signs of slowing down after a 49-point explosion against the Chameleons the last time.
Meanwhile, Akari tries to maintain its winning ways in its ambitious bid to make it to the podium. They placed as high as seventh since joining the league in 2022.
Out to lead the Chargers are Oly Okaru and Ivy Lacsina, who conspired for 52 points in their five-set squeaker against the Highrisers.
The Chameleons, however, are drawing strength from Meegan Hart, Jho Maraguinot and Chiara Permentilla to end their five-game slide.
In the other pairing, Cignal is banking on MJ Perez, Ces Molina and Gel Cayuna against Galeries Towers.
