The Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) tasked to solve the twin robberies in Barangay Ermita last August 8 said the vehicle is a silver and gray Mitsubishi Adventure with license plates DAB-5200.
Police Lt. Col. Maria Theresa Macatangay, SITG spokesperson, said that based on pieces of evidence gathered, it was determined that the SUV was used by the group of men who robbed Macy’s Gold and Silver Jewelry Store and DGC D’ Gold Chain and Jewelry Store.
“It is already confirmed. Right now, what we need is the whereabouts and location of this particular vehicle,” said Macatangay in a news forum on Tuesday, August 13.
After the incident, the vehicle was spotted in Talisay City and travelled back to Cebu City before proceeding to Mandaue City.
Macatangay said it is possible that the license of the vehicle had been replaced or its appearance had been modified.
Police urged auto shops where the vehicle may have been modified to cooperate and inform them of its location.
The SUV was last spotted in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City at 3:44 p.m. on the day of the robbery.
“The area is quite wide for us to really conduct a search that's why we are giving this to the public and appealing to all of you in the community to help us locate this vehicle,” said Macatangay.
Macatangay said initial investigation revealed that the suspects escaped using three motorcycles and a four-wheel vehicle.
One of the motorcycle has been recovered. It was learned that the motorcycle had changed ownership five times.
"The recovered vehicle, we have already determined that it was not stolen. It changed ownership for several times but we want to determine who is the last buyer,” said Macatangay.
A P200,00 cash reward has been offered to anyone who could provide information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects.
