The flag of the Philippines was hoisted at a ceremony of the US Marines in Washington in a historic moment that proved the strengthening alliance between the two countries.
"A historic moment at the [United States Marine Corps (USMC)] Barracks Washington as the Philippine flag was presented during the Friday Evening Parade," the US Embassy in Manila said in a post on X.
According to the embassy, the Philippine flag was the first foreign flag to be presented in USMC's ceremony.

That highlighted "our relationship as longtime" friends, partners and allies, the embassy said.
Ties between Manila and Washington were bolstered during the administration of President Marcos, who sought the US' help amid China's aggression in the West Philippine Sea.
The two countries have various cooperation to improve the defense capacity of the Philippines against threats at sea.
