Mayor Abby showcases Makati's sustainability feats in 2 conferences
Makati City Mayor Abby Binay showcased Makati's latest developments and programs aimed at boosting sustainability and interconnectedness for the benefit of Makatizens in two conferences attended by multinational leaders and experts on August 6.

Binay was one of the plenary speakers at the 7th Annual Conference of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities-Sustainable Cities and Landscapes as well as the 3rd International Conference on Human Settlements Planning and Development.
"Sa kumperensyang ito, na dinaluhan ng mga eksperto mula sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng Pacific Rim, ibinida ko ang mga programa ng Makati para maging isang sustainable at technologically-integrated na lungsod. Bilang sentro ng commerce at technology, ang Makati ay patuloy na nag-e-evolve upang maging isang tech-friendly business environment (In these conferences attended by experts from different parts of the Pacific Rim, I showcased Makati's programs for it to become a sustainable and technologically-integrated city. As a center of commerce and technology, Makati continues to evolve for it to have a tech-friendly business environment)," Binay said on Monday, August 12.
These include the city's advancements in smart technology and Internet of Things (IoT) being applied to different aspects of urban management such as in geolocation and asset monitoring, smart meters for energy and water, and air cleanliness monitoring.
Binay also spearheaded the implementation of stricter waste management protocols and expansion of green spaces.
The city government also introduced IoT devices in its schools with the goal of improving the quality of education of students as well as streamlining the teaching processes of teachers and other school staff.
"Sa suporta ninyo, ang Makati ay hindi lamang sumasabay sa mga hamon ng modernong urbanisasyon kundi patuloy ding humuhubog sa isang sustainable, inclusive, at resilient future (With your support, Makati does not just cope with the challenges brought by modern urbanization, but also excels in creating a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future)," the mayor explained.
"Ang ating mga inisyatiba ay patuloy na nagbibigay inspirasyon at pag-asa hindi lamang sa ibang mga lungsod sa Pilipinas kundi pati na rin sa buong mundo (Our initiatives continue to provide inspiration and hope not just to cities in the Philippines, but to the entire world)," she added.
