The local government of Manila is inviting the public to join the heroes' welcome the city has laid out for the Filipino Olympians who gave the country pride and honor in the recently-concluded Paris Olympics on Wednesday, August 14.
The Heroes' Welcome for Paris 2024 Philippine Olympians will be held on Wednesday, at 3 p.m. and will traverse the following route:
- Start at Aliw Theater
- Left to Roxas Boulevard
- Right to Padre Burgos
- Right to Finance Road
- Right to Taft Avenue
- Right to P. Quirino Avenue
- Left to Adriatico Street
- Going to Rizal Memorial Coliseum
The local government initially announced that it would hold the parade on August 13 but it was moved to Wednesday, August 14, due to the late arrival of the athletes on a chartered flight from Dubai on Tuesday.
Carlos Yulo will receive a P2 million cash incentive from the local government during a short program at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
The parade was organized by Malacañang Palace for Olympics medalists Yulo, Aira Villegas, and Nesthy Petecio.
Yulo won two gold medals in the Men's Artistic Gymnastics Floor and Vault events. His double victory in Paris came three years after Hidilyn Diaz brought home the country’s first-ever Olympic gold medal from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Philippines also earned two bronze medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics courtesy of boxers Villegas and Petecio.
