A 68-year-old drunk man was arrested after hacking his neighbors -- a mother and daughter -- with a bolo in Barangay Malanday, San Mateo, Rizal, on Monday, August 12.


According to the investigation of the Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO), the hacking incident occurred at around 10 a.m. on Monday following a heated argument between the suspect, identified as "Diosing," and the husband of the victim, Crisanta.
Police said that during the argument, the suspect allegedly brandished a bolo and tried to attack the victim's husband.
However, when the victim and her daughter intervened, the suspect turned his anger at them, hacking them several times with the bolo.
Their neighbors immediately helped restrain the suspect and reported the incident to the authorities.
Responding barangay officials arrested Diosing and immediately turned him over to the San Mateo Municipal Police Station.
Police learned that the suspect had an argument with the victims on August 11. The police did not disclose the reason for the altercation.
Authorities said on Tuesday, August 13, that the victims have been discharged from the hospital after being treated of their wounds.
The suspect is currently detained at the San Mateo Custodial Facility and is facing charges of frustrated murder.
