Transport group Samahang Manibela Mananakay at Nagkaisang Terminal ng Transportasyon (Manibela) started its three-day transport strike on Monday morning, August 12, at the Monumento Circle in Caloocan City.
The group launched the transport strike to oppose the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP) formerly known as the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).

The transport strike was also held in these strategic areas: Manila, Pasig-palengke, Gatchalian, Parañaque, Starmall Alabang, Muñoz market in Quezon City, Shell Barangay Gulod in Quezon City, Marcos Highway in Marikina, Camarin Road in Caloocan, and Pulang-lupa in Las Piñas City.
Around 7:30 a.m., the rallyists occupied the Monumento Circle. Members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were deployed in the area.
Stranded passengers were seen in the areas of Muñoz, Quezon City and also in Nagtahan, Manila.
On Wednesday, August 14, the group will again hold a protest from the Welcome Rotunda in Quezon City going to Mendiola, Manila.
