Assistant Majority La Union 1st district Rep. Paolo Ortega V had a little fun with his response when asked to react on rumors of an impending impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte at the House of Representatives.
The topic was raised during a press conference Monday, Aug. 12, even as critical statements from various House members continued to be hurled against the Vice President.
These critical statements resulted from Vice President Duterte's own tirades against President Marcos, as it didn't sit well with the majority congressmen.
The impeachment rumors stemmed from a social media post by former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, a known ally of the Dutertes.
“Ako kasi dalawa ‘yung crystal balls ko, pero parang wala naman po akong nakikita na ganun,” Ortega, a "Young Guns" bloc member, said during the presser.
(You see I have two crystal balls, but I don't envision anything like that.)
“Tiningnan ko ‘yung left, tiningnan ko ‘yung right, pero wala naman po," he said, eliciting laughter from the crowd.
(I looked at the left ball, I looked at the right ball, but I saw nothing.)
"We’re sticking to the facts, of course, we’re sticking to the issues in the House of Representatives, at wala naman pong ganyan na napag-uusapan (nothing like that is being discussed),” claimed the Ilocano.
Ortega gave no further description of his crystal balls, or his track record using such balls.
Roque had earlier tagged Vice President Duterte as the new opposition leader.
