Locked with the High Speed Hitters and the Crossovers at third place with identical 4-1 cards, the Cool Smashers are ahead with a superior tiebreak and could further get the upper hand at 3 p.m. when they clash with the Angels (2-3).

Coming from a one-week rest, Petro Gazz showed dominance in its last outing, sweeping Choco Mucho before the crossover round kicked off last Saturday, a break that can give it a chance to rectify its errors and, hopefully, change its narrative this conference.

For the curtain raiser, the Crossovers gun to continue their winning ways against the struggling Flying Titans (1-4) at 1 p.m. while the High Speed Hitters battle the winless Thunderbelles (0-5) at 5 p.m.

Creamline mainstay Michele Gumabao stressed that she and her teammates have similar mindsets and should be one as they eye to cement their spot in the quarters.

“Be healthy, No. 1 yung mindset namin. Work hard and syempre manalo. Kailangan yung end goal namin. One goal kami lahat -- that is really to play our best and win,” Gumabao said.

Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses echoed Gumabao’s sentiments and added they needed to take things cautiously.

“One game at a time. Kahit sinong makakalaban mo, nasa bottom man o sa taas, kailangan paghandaan,” Meneses said.

The Cool Smashers, which will have their backs against the wall, are counting on Gumabao, Bernadeth Pons and Erica Staunton over Petro Gazz’s troika in Wilma Salas, Myla Pablo and Brooke Van Sickle.

In the first match, Dindin Santiago-Manabat and Zoi Faki seek to bounce back in helping Choco Mucho regain its old form against Chery Tiggo, which is anchored by Kath Bell and Ara Galang.

PLDT, meanwhile, will bank on Elena Samoilenko, Mika Reyes, Fiola Ceballos and Erika Santos as they challenge Asaka Tamaru and Dolly Verzosa of the Thunderbelles.
