Jio Jalalon has already moved on from the trade that ended his long tenure with Magnolia and he’s now ready to start afresh with his new team NorthPort.

Although he admitted that he somehow felt sad leaving the Hotshots, Jalalon said that he’s excited to what the future has in store for him especially that he is now expected to play with a bigger role in a young franchise like the Batang Pier.
“As a basketball player, kailangan nating tanggapin every team kasi sa mga trabaho namin, hindi naman natin masasabi kung hanggang kailan ka mag-stay sa pinaka-unang una mong team,” said Jalalon who played for eight seasons with the Hotshots, the team that drafted him in 2016 as part of the Gilas draft.
“We are good. I’m still happy dahil nandito pa rin ako sa PBA. Ibang team lang ‘yung napuntahan ko. NorthPort pa rin. We are good. Moving forward. I’ve moved on,” he added.
The last season’s Defensive Player of the Year is expected to bring in a wealth of playoff experience for a NorthPort team which has long been needing a court leader to complement its talented wings that has Arvin Tolentino, Cade Flores, Will Navarro and Joshua Munzon.
He is also poised to take young guard Fran Yu and rookie Evan Nelle under his wings as he assumes the starting point guard position for head coach Bonnie Tan.
Now, ako ‘yung ginagawa ni Coach Bonnie na starting point guard," he stated.
Being utilized more of a defensive lynchpin to anchor Magnolia, Jalalon said he is ready to step up as well on the offensive end if needed although he would be very much contented just becoming a facilitator on the court
