DSWD celebrates Vanessa Sarno: Paris 2024 Olympian, proud 'Pantawid Pamilya' beneficiary

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has applauded weightlifter Vanessa Sarno for her remarkable performance and determination at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
DSWD, through its Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), expressed gratitude to 20-year-old Sarno, a 4Ps beneficiary from Tagbilaran City, Bohol province, for her participation in the women’s 71-kilogram weightlifting division.
This is her Olympic debut, but she was already a two-time gold medalist at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.
“Maraming salamat sa laban, Vanessa Sarno! Ang iyong pagsabak sa women's 71-kilogram division weightlifting sa Paris 2024 Olympic Games ay isang inspirasyon para sa bawat Pilipino, higit lalo sa mga 4Ps households (Thank you so much for the fight, Vanessa Sarno! Your participation in the women's 71-kilogram weightlifting division at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is an inspiration to every Filipino, especially to 4Ps households),” it said.
According to DSWD, Sarno’s two younger siblings are 4Ps monitored children, and her mother, a solo parent, is the household head.
4Ps is the government's national poverty reduction and human capital investment program that provides conditional cash transfers to poor households for up to seven years, aimed at improving health, nutrition, and education.
As of May 31, the program supports 4.3 million household-beneficiaries nationwide with these conditional cash grants.
Under the program, each household-beneficiary receives a health and nutrition grant of P750 per month.
The education grant is P300 per month for children in elementary school, P500 for those in junior high school, and P700 for those in senior high school.
Beneficiaries also receive a P600 rice subsidy per month.
