LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Two persons were killed and nine were injured in motorcycle and tricycle accidents in Calauag, Real, and Lopez towns, this province, over the weekend.

Seven individuals were injured when the motorcycle of an endurance challenge participant crashed on the Maharlika Highway in Lopez early Sunday morning, August 11.
A video taken by a spectators showed that the rider was speeding and lost control of his motorcycle which rammed them on the right side of the highway. The victims sustained injuries and taken to the hospital.
The organizer of the race dubbed "Lopez Yanu Ay-600kms/18hrs Endurance Challenge" has yet to release a statement regarding the incident.
A tricycle driver died and two passengers were injured when their vehicle overturned in Barangay Santa Maria, Calauag at 11 p.m. on Saturday, August 10.
Police said the tricycle spun and overturned after the driver, Michael, suddenly applied the brakes. The victim was thrown out and sustained severe head injuries.
Michael and the two injured passengers – Steven and Ardian, both tricycle drivers from Calauag – were taken to a hospital where Michael was declared dead.
A 38-year-old driver Jayson died when his motorcycle crashed into a canal on the Famy-Real-Infanta Road in Barangay Maragondon, Real, on Saturday morning.
Jayson lost control of his motorcycle after driving on an uneven section of the road.
Police said the victim's head hit the edge of a slab covering the canal and died on the spot.
