5,231 fisherfolks affected by oil spill in Cavite receive financial assistance

A total of 5,231 fishermen affected by the Bataan oil spill in Cavite City received economic assistance on Friday, August 9.
In a Facebook post, Cavite First District Rep. Jolo Revilla said Caviteño fisherfolk received family food packs and P1,000 each from the provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Jonvic Remulla.
Revilla said fishermen affected by the oil spill will receive more economic assistance next week from his office, Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr., and the Agimat Partylist.
On August 1, a no-catch and no-sell zone for all shellfish was enforced in the coastal areas of Cavite affected by the oil spill in accordance with Executive Order No. 38 Series 2024.
The fisherfolk group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (PAMALAKAYA) in Cavite has previously called for economic relief as fishermen in the coastal areas of the province continue to struggle with the effects of the recent oil spill.
