PH to experience partly cloudy skies, shower chances during monsoon break
Fair weather conditions are expected as the country experiences a “monsoon break,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday, Aug. 1.
PAGASA Weather Specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” is currently weak and has no impact on any part of the country.
He added that the ridge of high pressure area, which brings fair weather across the country, will be the prevailing weather system.
Over the next 24 hours, the entire country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers.
However, PAGASA warned of potential flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
As of Thursday, Aurelio said PAGASA has not monitored any low pressure areas or tropical cyclones within the country’s area of responsibility.
Two or three tropical cyclones may enter or form within the country’s area of responsibility this month, and the next names on PAGASA’s list are Dindo, Enteng, and Ferdie.
