A total of 72 medals were won by young Filipino math wizards in a mathematics competition held in South Korea from July 27 to 31, the Mathematics Trainers' Guild (MTG) Philippines announced Thursday, August 1.

According to Dr. Simon Chua, head of MTG who trained them, the delegation placed third overall at the 16-nation Asia International Mathematics Olympiad (AIMO), bringing home six gold, 15 silver, 26 bronze and 25 merit medals.
"The Filipino math aces competed against around 1,600 other students from South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Brazil, Bulgaria, Turkey, Kazakhstan, India, Cambodia, Indonesia and Singapore. Teams from China and Hong Kong topped this year's AIMO," Chua said.
He named the Philippines' gold medalists as Cyris Chad Manarang, Samuel Alarcon, Heal Job Esio, Patric Xamwell Legaspi, Erwin Aenas Vibal and Adrienne Geraldine Co.
The silver medal winners are Cyrus Carl Manarang, Adrian Jeric Ang, Elizur Daniel Anabieza, Don Emmanuel dela Pena, Carl Lance Garcia, Feliza Guinevere Tetangco, Erwin Andrei Vibal, Ron Joseph Rodillas, Dominique Joy Rustia, King Mathew Pandes, Abdiel Dominic Vicera, Janamei Villanueva, Joven Costales, Benito Andre Yulo, and Joni Shane Ting.
Bagging the bronze medals are Kylie Madison Lim-Kit, Lara Jane Natividad, Rudy Aldrin Turingan, Ezekiel Tan, Emmanuel Belarmino, Laia Amanda Atienza, Michael Eli Socrates, Lemuel Hari Plana, Heintz Job Esio, Sofia Victoria Domingo, John Vincent Cinco, Vlade Montgomery Guillermo, Andrea Princess Domingo, Elaiza Mae Ojo, Iain Drazen Guillermo, Mark Gomez, Aivy Willow Ting, Marjhon Silverio, Jose Franco Domingo, Ethan Jude Saclamitao, Paul Nathan Rodriguez, Gertztine Jhon Ordiz, Queenie Pandes, Ashley Natalie Carolino, Miguel Santino Bumanglag, and Lance Lecter Lao.
The merit medalists are Lance Gabriel Madrazo, Daniella Edna Divina, Mary Angelique Ostonal, Hannah Torres, Avery Shana Lim, Alecssa Monique Secosana, Zandro Joaquin Cunanan, Jaze Lauren Camargo, Nathalie Vian Ang, Lance Trevor Lim-Kit, Jaslene Sophia Chua, Francois Liam Olfindo, Raisa Aileen Turingan, Thyron Flynn Lim, Steven Chrysander Nuez, Malachy Gomez, Antonio Pio Vivo, Jana Eirian Saclamitao, Annabella Avelino, Aubrey Elise de Lemos, Cassiel Franze Alcantara, Nia Grantyn Hao, James Wilbhur Wong, Sophia Anne Mallari, and Zachariah Vincent Abenoja.
The Philippine delegation was led by MTG officers Aldwin Sahirul and Robert Degolacion.
