Pasig LGU begins distribution of P5,000 to 'Carina'-hit families
Seven hundred out of the more than 2,500 severely affected families in Pasig City who were evacuated during the onslaught of the southwest monsoon and Typhoon Carina have already received financial assistance from the local government to help them recover.

The city government started the distribution to affected families residing in Barangays Maybunga and Dela Paz on Wednesday, July 31. They were evacuated families from three of the 25 city-managed evacuation centers during the typhoon.
Each family received P5,000. The distribution of financial assistance will continue until Friday, August 2, to cover the other families from the remaining 22 evacuation centers.
It added that as of Wednesday, only one evacuation center remains open, which is located in Barangay Santolan.
Mayor Vico Sotto said that the financial assistance serves as additional help to displaced families during the recent calamity.
“Kung may makikita pa tayong paraan para tumulong pa, di po tayong magdadalawang isip. Ito po ay dagdag tulong pinansyal para sa inyong pamilya, kung may kailangang bilihin o ipaayos ang tahanan, mula sa lokal na pamahalaan (This is additional financial assistance for your family from the local government, whether for purchasing necessities or repairing your homes. If we can find any other way to help, we will not hesitate to do so),” Sotto said.
He also thanked those who helped in the response efforts during the calamity, such as barangay and city government officials and personnel, as well as representatives from national government agencies such as the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The beneficiaries are the families listed in their respective Disaster Assistance Family Access Cards, as encoded by the Pasig City Social Welfare and Development Office, which is in charge of camp management.
“The financial assistance is sourced from the Quick Response Fund, which can be tapped for rehabilitation and recovery efforts, following the declaration of a state of calamity in Pasig City under Resolution No. 159-11, s. 2024," the local government said.
The distribution is in accordance with Executive Order No. PCG-34, s. 2024, which allows for the grant of P5,000 per evacuee family displaced during the calamity.
Meanwhile, the city government added that other affected families in heavily affected areas who were not able to evacuate will be given food packs.
The house-to-house distribution of food packs started on Monday, July 29.
In addition, it said that a cash-for-work scheme will also be implemented with affected families as beneficiaries, where they will be tapped to help in the clearing operations within their areas in exchange for remuneration.
