Over 5,000 Malabueños affected by typhoon 'Carina' receive cash aid from LGU

Around 5,000 residents affected by typhoon "Carina" received cash assistance at the Malabon City Amphitheater on Wednesday, July 31.

Fire-affected families in Barangay Panghulo also received financial help.

The cash assistance came from the local government support fund and was distributed by Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Fernando and Senator Bong Go.

“Nagpapasalamat ako kay Senator Bong Go para sa kanyang walang sawang suporta sa ating mga programa at aktibidad, pati na rin sa tulong para sa Malabueño, lalo na ngayon na kakatapos lang ng Bagyong Carina na nakaapekto talaga sa bawat isa sa atin. Alam kong maraming pangangailangan ngayon ang mga Malabueño. Nawa’y makatulong ang financial aid sa inyong pangaraw-araw at sa mga kailangan niyong paglaanan (I thank Senator Bong Go for his continuous support to our programs and activities, as well as assistance for Malabueños, especially now that Typhoon Carina has just ended which really affected each and every one of us. I know Malabueños have many needs today. May the financial aid help you in your daily life and your daily needs),” Mayor Jeannie said.

A raffle was also held, giving away cellphones, basketballs, and bicycles.

T-shirts were also given as freebies to the beneficiaries.

“Nangako ho ako na babalikan ko, ito po 'yung mga biktima ng pagbabaha. Makatulong man lang sa kanila at makapag-iwan po ng kaunting kasiyahan sa kanilang mga mukha. Nawawala po ang aking pagod pag nakikita ko 'yung makakatulong sa ating mga kababayan (I promised that I will come back for the flood victims. At least I can help them and leave some happiness on their faces. My tiredness disappears when I see those who help our countrymen),” Sen. Go said.
