Google has announced the Pixel 9 series.
It includes three Pro models: The Pixel 9 Pro, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Fold Pro. There’s also the basic Pixel 9.
All Google phones have Tensor G4 processors and each of the Pro models has 16GB of RAM, while the non-pro version has 12. So yes, they are powerful. They need to be, in order to run AI features, features that Google has expanded with the Pixel 9 series. Some of them are exclusive.
One of those features includes retrieving information on your screenshots, simply Screenshots. These are screenshots that you made manually, so anyone concerned with their privacy should be able to breathe a little bit easier. And thinking about this feature myself, I do take a lot of screenshots for future references, and they do eventually become a mess. Having this feature to help you find the one you need faster seems pretty cool. Google boasts that this is a Pixel-exclusive feature, probably because they’re the first big name rolling it out.

Pixel Studio is an app that generates images based on your text prompts. This does not run on-device, meaning you’ll need to be online if you want to make full use of this.
Magic Editor gets a new feature where you can alter an image with generative AI. This means exactly what it sounds like. You don’t like your background; you can change it entirely. You don’t like the angle of the shot; you can switch it. All through prompts or selecting parts of the image you want to change. There’s an Add Me feature as well, where the Pixel will add another person in the picture. Google is marketing this as that group photo where there is always one being left out or having to ask strangers to take a photo for you.

The Pixel 9 series will also have Satellite SOS for emergencies. I don’t know how useful this feature really is, here in the country, but it’s something some of you would want to have when travelling.
We’re not going to go into details about the Pixel 9’s camera setup. But based on experience they’ve been consistently great. Just know the cameras get 50MPs. 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL have 42MP front cameras while the Pixel 9 gets 10.5MP because Google is gently pushing you to buy the Pro version instead. Also, I didn’t know half-pixels exist in smartphone cameras.
We can't promise a full review on any of the Pixel devices. But the few times we've managed to get our hands on, we can attest that the Pixel line is one of the best Android devices you can get your hands on.
