QC cops arrest 2 minors behind stabbing, robbery in UP Diliman

Operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Wednesday, July 10, announced the arrest of two minors involved in the stabbing and robbery incident at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman campus on July 8.

Police said the two minors, 14 and 15 years old, are residents of Barangay Krus na Ligas, Quezon City.

Based on the police report, around 12:20 a.m., the relatives of the victim sought the assistance of PS 9 to report the incident.

Personnel of the Anonas Police Station (PS 9) said that the victim, an 18 year-old female student, was approached by three men who suddenly appeared from behind her and declared a hold-up.

The victim screamed for help. One of the suspects immediately stabbed her before they fled with her bag containing a cellphone, wallet that contained the victim's IDs and ATM card.

A concerned citizen promptly rushed the victim to Diliman Doctors Hospital for immediate treatment.

Operatives of PS 9 conducted an investigation and they tracked down the suspects using closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from Barangay UP campus.

The 16-year-old suspect fled to B. Francisco Pook Amorsolo where he met with his two accomplices, prompting authorities to launch a manhunt operation.

Personnel from the District Special Operating Unit (DSOU) arrested the two suspects at their residence on July 9 at around 6:20 p.m.

During the arrest, police recovered a cellular phone, a wallet containing the  IDs, pictures, and ATM cards, from the suspects.

The victim positively identified the suspects from the photos shown by PS 9.

“Ang matagumpay na pagkaaresto sa mga suspek ay bunga ng mabilis at maagap na aksyon ng ating mga kapulisan. Ito ay patunay ng ating dedikasyon sa pagpapanatili ng kaayusan at kaligtasan sa ating komunidad (The successful arrest of the suspects was a result of the swift and prompt action of our police officers. This is a testament to our dedication to maintaining order and safety in our community),” QCPD chief Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said.

Maranan added that the victim is still recovering in the hospital.
