DepEd 'TeleSafe' hotline addresses nearly 3,000 concerns, calls for action
In line with its efforts to ensure the well-being of Filipino learners, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Tuesday, July 9, that it has addressed almost 3,000 concerns and calls for action since establishing its hotline.

"Ensuring your well-being has been and always will be a top priority," Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte said in her message for the Learners’ Convergence Philippines 2024 held in Cebu City.
Duterte stressed that promptly and efficiently addressing any threats to Filipino learners has always been crucial. Thus, under her term, the Learners Rights and Protection Office (LRPO) was established.
The LRPO, Duterte explained, has been actively working to address child abuse cases such as bullying, verbal abuse, and sexual harassment, among others.
"Since its inception in 2022, the Learners [Helpline] (LTCCH) has addressed almost 3,000 concerns and calls for action," she added.
As part of its initiatives to protect learners from abuse, Duterte noted that DepEd has introduced improved training programs to enhance the functionality of the schools' Child Protection Committees (CPCs), where learner-leaders are members.
"These programs aim to ensure that your rights and protection are safeguarded and upheld," she said.
