Police intelligence officer dies in motorcycle crash

BACOLOD CITY – A police intelligence officer was killed in a motorcycle accident in Sitio Linao, Barangay Bato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental on Sunday night, July 7.

The victim was identified as Police Staff Sgt. Steven Donasco, 32, assigned to the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station.

Police Lt. Voltaire Sy, deputy chief of the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station, said that Donasco was blinded by light from a vehicle while approaching an uneven road and lost control of his motorcycle.

Sy said the victim was wearing a helmet but it detached from his head.

Due to the impact, Donasco hit his head on the pavement and passed away in a hospital.

Sy said the area was not well-lighted. He said the victim came from an operation when the accident happened.

“He died in the line of duty,” Sy said.
