Governor Daniel R. Fernando emphasized the importance of proper nutrition for children and vowed to promote this through all life stages.

"This will help their growth and education. We must take good care of them and their future as they are not only the hope of the province but of the country," Fernando said during the observance of Nutrition Month in the province.

He said the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office has started a massive information dissemination campaign this month, including the monitoring of nutrition month activities for local government unit counterparts, nutrition program implementers, and volunteers.

Materials on good nutrition, several posts on the PGB official website, good nutrition activities with senior citizens, persons with disability, pregnant women, adults, and children at the daycare centers, schools, and communities are aggressively being promoted.

Other activities relevant to the Nutrition Month include the live streaming every Thursday on Radyo Kapitolyo, the conduct of Mutya ng Buntis Season 8 on July 24 which advocates the first 1,000 days of life; Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) program; the conduct of the National Disability Rehabilitation Week (Basta Bulakenya, Kahit may “K” OK!) via Zoom on July 17; and Disability Sensitivity Training with Orientation on Issuance of PWD ID and 10 Types of Disability on July 23.

There are also the “Ngiti Mo, Sagot Namin: Free Harelip and Cleft Palate Operation for Bulakenyos” Year 21 scheduled on July 1- 14 for recruitment, July 15-21 for screening, July 22 for admission, July 23 – 24 for free harelip and cleft palate operation and post-operation check-up on August 6.
