Rain showers likely in most parts of the country due to ITCZ, easterlies --- PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, July 6, said that most parts of the country might experience a high chance of rain showers due to two weather systems.

In its latest weather report, PAGASA Weather Specialist Daniel James Villamil said that according to the latest satellite image, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), where winds from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres converge, will continue to affect Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

"At for the next 24 hours, inaasahan natin ang patuloy na epekto ng ITCZ sa malaking bahagi ng Southern Luzon, Visayas at sa Mindanao (And for the next 24 hours, we expect the continued effect of the ITCZ in much of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao)," Villamil said.

"So, in these mentioned areas, we can expect persistent cloudiness and a high chance of rain throughout the day," he added in a mix of English and Filipino.

He also added that the easterlies or the winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, will bring cloudiness and rain to the eastern section of Southern Luzon.

Based on the 24-hour public weather forecast issued at 4:00 a.m., the weather across the Philippines is expected to be varied, with several regions experiencing rainfall and thunderstorms.

The Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Mimaropa will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the ITCZ. At the same time, the Bicol Region and Quezon will also see cloudy skies and scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, but these are due to the influence of easterlies.

In the rest of Mindanao, the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Due to the ITCZ  and in Metro Manila, the rest of the country may experience similar weather conditions driven by easterlies.
