In a Veritas PH post Saturday, July 6, shrine rector Fr. Reynante Tolentino said the Antipolo Cathedral’s gift is timely as many countries such as the Philippines face difficulties including territorial disputes. Fr. Tolentino expressed hope for the images to reach the chapels being built in the WPS peacefully.

“One of the images will be brought to the different camps where our coast guards are deployed. The other image will hopefully reach Kalayaan Islands in the WPS. Let us all pray for peace in our country and the world. We all need peace especially the peace that comes from Christ which is brought to us by the Virgin of Antipolo,” said Fr. Tolentino over Radio Veritas.

A Mass for Peace was held on Friday, July 5, at the Antipolo Cathedral to pray for peace in the WPS and in the country and to help spread devotion to Our Lady among the uniformed personnel.

Chief Chaplain Reverend Fr. Cost Guard Commodore Louie A. Palines received from Fr. Tolentino the images of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage after the mass.

Fr. Palines said the PCG chaplaincy hopes to strengthen devotion to Our Lady among the uniformed personnel.

“We thank the Antipolo Cathedral for this special gift. Let us seek the Blessed Mother’s intercession for calm and peace to reign,” the priest said.

For his part, Fr. Tolentino cited the PCG’s efforts to promote peace by way of spreading devotion to Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.
