OPM icon Geneva Cruz admitted that she wants to have grandchildren these days as she shared her love advice with her son Heaven Enrico Luis Victor.

"Heaven is 28. He lives in LA. He has a wonderful girlfriend. Sa totoo lang part of me gusto ko na magkaroon ng apo (grandchildren). I love babies. So sana (magkaroon na) kapag okay na sila," said Geneva during an exclusive interview at Stagecraft Studio in Pasig City on July 6.

When asked for a piece of love advice for Heaven, Geneva said: "Be patient with each other. Sa akin kasi sila lumalapit kapag may misunderstanding. So yun lang: patience, understanding, and compassion."

In March, Geneva shared her birthday greetings to her son on social media. She wrote:

"I thank God for entrusting you to me and giving me the opportunity to cherish and nurture you and be your mother bear in this lifetime. My faith in God assures me that all my heartfelt prayers for you will be answered at His perfect time.

"My dear son, I hope you learn to listen to your heart, especially in rough times, as the mind can sometimes mislead us. You remind me of the good within me, and I am proud to see how beautiful your heart is.

"Always remember to aim for a meaningful and fulfilling life for you, and may you continue to be an inspiration and blessing to those around you; I am so proud of you," she wrote.

Heaven is the son of Geneva and musician Paco Arespacochaga. Both later annulled their marriage. Paco is now married to Cristina Arespacochaga.

On Paco, Geneva said: We're good. His wife also. Paco is in LA."

Geneva, 48, will be one of the guests in the epic OPM concert "All Hits Just The Way You Want It" at The Theater at Solaire on July 11. The concert is produced by Ticket1 and headed by Jonathan Wee. The main acts in the concert are the iconic OPM bands Rivermaya, Neocolours and MYMP.

"Good vibes only. Kakanta ako ng mga hits ko - isang song from Smokey Mountain and iang song from my solo album. After that I will have a surprise number na first time kong gagawin. It's a new material pero Pinoy pa rin. But I haven't done it before na mag-rap," she said about her guest appearance in the show.

Geneva said he was thrilled and grateful that her songs like "Anak Ng Pasig" and "Kailan" were still being played on the radio more than 30 years later.

"Yan ang mga kantang ginawa ng mga magagaling na composer. Si Jimmy Antiporda ang isa sa gumawa ng 'Anak Ng Pasig.' Si Maestro Ryan Cayabyab ang gumawa ng 'Kailan.'

"I can't take credit for those songs but I am grateful that people remember me and ako ang unang kumanta ng mga awitin na yun," the singer said.

Geneva, who is also an actress, however, said she was a bit sad that the local movie industry has not fully revived, unlike the concert scene.

"That's a little sad because I also act. Marami rin naman tayong artista who can act. I guess ang maganda riyan is isipin na lang natin na at least gumagawa na tayo ng mga pelikula at teleserye kesa naman sa wala.

"Na-miss talaga ng mga tao yung concerts. Yung nakakapag-party sila, nakakakanta sila, or nakakasayaw sila. That's why even my best friend Rachel Alejandro said na even sa US, ang lakas lakas daw ng OPM shows.

"Maraming akong naka-lineup na shows sa America cus I haven't been back in four years. Almost five years na kami rito because naabutan kami ng pandemic dito. And then my mom passed away," Geneva said.

Geneva said she is celebrating her 35th year in showbiz this year.  "I'm going to have my 35th anniversary concert. Thirty-five na ako (sa showbiz) this year. Unfortunately walang magaganap na reunion ang Smokey Mountain. So I'm just going to do it by myself."

A member of the famous Cruz clan in showbiz, Geneva burst onto the music scene as one of the members of Smokey Mountain. Her relatives include Sheryl Cruz, Donna Cruz, Sunshine Cruz, Rayver Cruz, Rodjen Cruz, Tirso Cruz III, and Ricky Belmonte.

In 1992, Geneva represented the Philippines at the Voice of Asia competition in Kazakhstan, Russia, where she won gold. She went solo after releasing her debut album, "I Like You," which included the award-winning song "Anak Ng Pasig." She also appeared in movies and television series.
