The 35-year-old Chinese engineer was a crew of the Hong Kong-flagged vessel MV BBG Qinzhou which was enroute to Tanjung Bara, Indonesia, when he accidentally cut his left thumb while the ship was 20.69 nautical miles west of Semirara Island in Caluya town.

The PCG deployed BRP Kalanggaman (FPB-2404) from Nogas Island off the coast of Anini-y town to Semirara Port.

Four PCG medical personnel accompanied the Chinese while he was taken to a hospital in Iloilo City.

“The PCG turned over the patient to the vessel’s agent who handled his transportation to the nearest hospital for medical attention,” the PCG added.
