PAGASA: Rain showers to prevail across parts of the country in the coming week

Two weather systems causing rain showers in some parts of the country are expected to persist throughout the coming week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its weather outlook from July 6 to 12.

From Saturday to Monday, July 6 to 8, PAGASA said the entire country will generally experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a likelihood of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening, mainly caused by the easterly winds.

Easterlies are warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean.

From Tuesday to Friday, July 9 to 12, PAGASA said that Mindanao may experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to either a potential low pressure area (LPA) or the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

The ITCZ is where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge, leading to the formation of rain-bearing clouds.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening due to easterlies.
