699 students complete ALS curriculum in Valenzuela


A total of 699 students received their certificates and diplomas for completing the Alternative Learning System (ALS) curriculum on Friday, July 5.

The ceremony was held at the Valenzuela City Amphitheater.

According to the city government, of the 699 students who finished the curriculum, 665 came from various schools in the city, while 34 came from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Valenzuela.

It added that the students attended their classes in 45 various ALS learning centers that partnered with the city government.

The local government also said that the students also received ALS kits or school supplies before they started the program. 

Meanwhile, 34 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) received their certificates and diplomas on July 4.

Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian emphasized that nothing can hinder a person from pursuing education.

“Gaya ng sabi ko kanina, ang tagumpay ng mga nagsipagtapos ay nagpapatunay na sa Valenzuela, ano man ang katayuan, kinakaharap, at edad ng isang tao, ay hindi hadlang upang makamit ang dekalidad na edukasyon (As I mentioned earlier, the success of the graduates proves that in Valenzuela, regardless of the status, circumstances or age of a person, people can achieve quality education),” he said.

Senator Win Gatchalian together with Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, other officials of the City Council, Schools Division Office (SDO)Valenzuela officers, and ALS focal person Jennica Sy also graced the event.
