Pedicab driver shot dead while sleeping in Baseco Compound

Members of the Manila Police District (MPD) are hunting down the suspect who shot a pedicab driver in the head while sleeping inside his vehicle in Baseco Compound, Manila.

Police has not yet disclosed the name of the suspect.

Witnesses said they heard a loud gunshot around 4:50 a.m. on Thursday, July 4.

They said they followed where the loud gunshot came from and found the lifeless victim lying on the pavement.

Based on closed circuit television (CCTV) footage, the suspect was wearing a black jacket, t-shirt and cap and red shorts.

He walked along the alleyway and stopped beside a parked pedicab. 

He drew his gun from his pocket and shot at the victim identified as alias "Brandon", a resident of Quiapo, Manila.

Police said they already have a "person of interest" in the crime.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, police added.
