TAYABAS CITY, Quezon – Fourteen babies aged eight to 11-months-old raced against each other in a contest initiated by the city nutrition office that coincided with the 50th Nutrition Month celebration here on Thursday, July 4.

Eleven received a consolation prize of P700 each and the three winners received P900, P1,200, and P1,500, respectively.

Contestants crawled on a seven-meter-long rubberized mat and they were observed to have their own style of crawling.

The babies were released by an unrelated individual at the starting line. Their parents waited for them at the finish line, waving milk or biscuits to maintain their attention.

Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso has empowered the city health office to implement measures to intensify the nutrition program here.
