Young Filipino math aces have once again made the country proud after bagging 54 medals in the recently concluded 2024 International Mathematics Competition Singapore (IMCS), the Mathematics Trainers' Guild Phils. (MTG), the group who trained the delegation, said Wednesday, July 31.

MTG head Dr. Simon Chua said the team won 5 gold, 10 silver, 25 bronze and 14 merit medals in the event held from July 26 to 29.
"In the 10-nation contest, Filipino students competed against over 520 other math enthusiasts from Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau and China," Chua said.
The group named the team's gold medalists as Elysha Therese Aguilos from Bethany Christian School; Thea Pauleen Garcia from Colegio San Agustin Binan; Robert Henrik Uy from St. John's Institute; Lexander Cole Cua from Hope Christian High School, and Annika Louise Ong from Immaculate Conception Academy Greenhills.
The silver medal winners are Enzo Sebastian Yeung, Chiang Kai Shek College; Stellar Georgia Rovero, Aklan Learning Center; Sasha Vivienne Ong, Immaculate Conception Academy; Savannah Lucia de Guzman, St. Paul College Pasig; Bianca Jayne Ong, St. John's Institute; Jacob Trevor Kaw, Better Together Homeschool; Kalel Elijah Lontok, Sen. Renato Cayetano Memorial High School; Feivel Pulusan and Rianne Pocsidio, Hope Christian High School, and Mark Anthony Epino, Taguig National High School.
Bagging bronze medals are Josh Bryant Ong, St. John's Institute; Kendrick Alden Gutierrez, Precious Int'l. School of Davao; Hezekiah Lucas Martinez, Phil. Yuh Chiao School; Nadie Clarisse Martha Castillo, Colegio San Agustin Makati; Cathellia Nikole Coronado, Silangan Elem. School; Kryssandra Jian delos Santos, Phil. Academy of Sakya; Matthieu Paul Falcis, Great Int'l. School; Myer Jedd Merced, Oro Christian Grace School; Nathaniel Arjune Olayres, Morning Star Montessori; Ferdinand Pauig, Ateneo de Manila: Giulianne Ragne Simon, Agoo Kiddie Special School; Dandrei Anthony Solis, Silangan Elem. School; Steve Jacob Yu, Xavier School; Angelo Alferez, MSA Whiz Kids Academy; Sophia Jolie Lagura, St. Paul College Pasig; Rupert Venjamin Roberto, Peninsula School; Jan Percy Christian Ortigas, Negros Occ. National High School; and Czarah Tez Camacho, Bohol Wisdom School.
MTG officers Arvie Ubarro and Manuel Kotah led the delegation.
During the IMCS's 2023 edition, the Philippine team took home 5 gold, 8 silver, 13 bronze and 14 merit medals.
Chua noted that the Filipino math wizards had ruled the event in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2018, besting math powerhouses China and Taiwan.
