PAGASA: Philippines likely to stay cyclone-free until weekend
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) does not expect any low pressure areas or tropical cyclones to develop within the country’s area of responsibility until the weekend, based on its forecast on Wednesday, July 31.
PAGASA Weather Specialist Obet Badrina said the southwest monsoon (habagat) and localized thunderstorms will be the dominant weather systems in the country in the coming days.
Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, and Bataan may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to a weak habagat, Badrina said.
Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may prevail over the rest of the country.
Badrina said slightly warmer conditions may persist in some areas, but rain showers are still possible in the early morning, afternoon, or evening due to the habagat.
