Globe puts up 6 new cell towers in Mactan


Globe Telecom is rolling out six new cell towers in Lapu-Lapu City to boost connectivity in the thriving island of Mactan.

The firm said in a statement that the towers are strategically positioned to uplift local tourism and improve livelihood and quality of life for residents.

The additional facilities provide faster, more reliable internet access in five barangays.  This strengthens the digital backbone of the highly urbanized city, known for its luxury resorts, bustling services sector, and as the gateway to Cebu through the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

With these new towers, Globe aims to further fuel local development and enrich the digital experience of both locals and tourists.

"We are proud to bring better connectivity to Mactan with the installation of these new cell towers. We believe that reliable connectivity is essential for economic progress and community well-being,” said Globe Senior Vice President and Head of Network Planning and Engineering Joel Agustin.

One of the tower was put up in Brgy. Punta Engaño which is known for its serene beaches and five-star hotels. Its 12,000 residents, has struggled with weak signal strength, particularly in coastal areas.

Globe has also put up two new towers in Brgy. Basak which is one of the most densely populated areas in Lapu-Lapu City. Home to approximately 71,990 residents, Brgy. Basak's cell sites are strategically placed to enhance connectivity for schools, businesses, and residential areas.

In Brgy. Bankal, Globe has fired up a new tower to benefit 22,863 residents. This tower covers essential areas such as the Bankal Barangay Hall, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Camellia Homes, Noah Stone and Spa Resort, Airworks Aviation Academy, and the MEZ2 Estate.

The new tower in Brgy. Marigondon is set to enhance connectivity for 25,584 residents. Covering areas like Bayswater Homes Clubhouse and several sitios, this tower brings robust network coverage to the community.   

In Brgy. Subabasbas, Globe's new cell tower is strategically placed along the Mactan Circumferential National Road, benefiting nearly 8,000 residents and numerous tourists.

This area, known for its relaxing hotels and resorts and proximity to school grounds, now sees significant improvements in connectivity. Visitors can enjoy uninterrupted mobile services while exploring local attractions. Students may also benefit from a better learning environment with fast internet access.
