Antipolo LGU continues to help Rizalenyos with free medical, surgical missions
Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares said on Wednesday, July 31, that the city government is continuously helping its residents through its partnership with the Philippine Band of Mercy (PBM) in providing them with free medical and surgical missions.

The program's latest beneficiary is 29-year-old Maylord Cuestas Olage who suffered from Pterygium or “Pugita sa mata.”
The mayor said Olage experienced unusual pressure and blurred vision just this year.
“Mabuti na lamang at pawer talaga ang nagagawa ng social media dahil nakaabot kay Maylord ang mga FB posts at announcements nating pagpapagamot ng mga kababayan nating may iniindang karamdaman (Fortunately, social media is really powerful, as Maylord came across our FB posts and announcements about providing medical treatment for our fellow citizens with ailments),” the mayor said.
“Inilapit niya sa mayor's help desk ang kaniyang pinagdadaanan at napag-alamang mayroon siyang Pterygium o pugita sa mata sa kaniyang kanang mata (He approached the mayor's help desk with his situation and discovered that he had Pterygium in his right eye),” he added.
He added that Olage's condition was extremely difficult, especially as he commutes daily to his job as a Grab Shopper.
After knowing the patient's situation, the local government immediately conducted and completed the process of consultation, lab tests, and medical assessments. The operation was held and became successful on June 25.
"Maraming salamat (dahil) ito ang isa sa mga bagay na hindi ko po malilimutan sa journey ng buhay ko (Thank you very much because this is one of the things I will never forget in my life's journey),” Olage said.
Aside from Olage, the local government also helped others with their medical treatments through its free medical missions.
“Salamat po sa lahat ng bumubuo PBM sa inyong walang sawang malasakit pati na rin sa masisipag nating mga kawani (Thank you to all the PBM members for your tireless care and to our hardworking staff as well),” as Ynares thanked PBM.
