San Miguel Corp. sports director Alfrancis Chua certainly has keen eyes for basketball talents and he has high hopes for Barangay Ginebra's newly signed rookie RJ Abarrientos.

For one, the two-time PBA Executive of the Year said he really liked the demeanor and confidence of Abarrientos that the third overall pick of the recent draft is already drawing comparison to the Kings veteran and leader LA Tenorio.
“Yong kumpiyansa nya? Sya palang ‘yong nakita kong ganun, pero sabihin natin ‘yong ‘di kaya nating i-ano ‘to’ parang si L.A Tenorio,” said Chua at the sidelines of the New Generation Basketball League’s (NGBL) draw on Monday, July, 29.
“‘Yong kumpiyansa, ‘yong the way [sya magisip], ‘yong vision nya kung anong mangyayari sa team, parang si LA,” he added.
The 24-year-old guard recently signed his three-year contract with the Gin Kings last Monday where Chua was present.
“The way he talks, sabi ko sa kanya ‘Kung anong sinasabi mo bata, kailangang gawin mo laro yan’ [at] magalang na bata,” Chua continued.
“Walang kahirap-hirap, he’s very excited to play for Ginebra. Hindi ako nahirapan dahil ano hindi english, eh. Tagalog lang usap namin, napakabilis kausap,” Chua quipped.
Chua believed that the nephew of PBA great Johnny Abarrientos had been long ready to play in the big league.
“Medyo angat na angat sya, angat na angat sya, kumbaga sa larong labas,” he added.
Ginebra will get a chance to see how Abarrientos really fares in PBA competition when the Tim Cone-mentored squad battles Taiwan’s New Taipei Kings in an exhibition game at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion in Macau Wednesday, July 31.
