Thirdy Ravena continues to blaze a trail for local Filipino basketball talents who dream of taking their acts overseas.
After opening the gates for the Filipinos to play in the Japan B.League when he signed for the San-En NeoPhoenix in 2020, Ravena is taking on a new foray in his overseas career, this time signing with Dubai Basketball Club that is set to play in the European league.
BC Dubai announced the signing on Tuesday, July 30, through the team’s official social media pages.
Ravena signed a one-year deal with a player option to extend in the second season. He left San-En during the offseason of the Japan B.League.
“Ravena is a rising star who has earned the title of Japan's most improved player in the Asian League. He is a perfect fit for Dubai's cosmopolitan spirit,” said Dubai BC head coach Jurica Golemac
“As a pioneering Filipino in European basketball, Ravena not only represents his community but also writes a new chapter in the sport's history. Welcome to our DBC family, Thirdy. Together, we're set to create something truly special,” he added.
BC Dubai is competing in the upcoming season of the AdmiralBet ABA League where Ravena is getting the chance to play against ball clubs from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia.
Ravena is set to become the only third homegrown talent to strut their wares in Europe after Juan Gomez De Liano played with BC Wolves in Lithuania and Jack Animam suited up in Serbia.
