PLDT, Bru-Haas boosting subsea connectivity

PLDT Global Corporation, the international arm of the Philippines' leading integrated telco PLDT Inc., has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bru-Haas (B) SDN BHD to enhance subsea connectivity.

In a statement, PLDT said this MOU represents a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the two companies, aimed at enhancing international subsea connectivity through strategic utilization of the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) and the Apricot subsea cable systems.

"This MOU with Bru-Haas signifies our continued dedication to expanding and enhancing our subsea cable infrastructure,” said PLDT Global President and CEO Albert Villa-Real.

He added that “by leveraging the advanced capabilities of ADC and Apricot, we are not only strengthening our network resilience but also reinforcing the Philippines' position as a critical hub for international data traffic.”

Through this MOU, PLDT Global will provide Bru-Haas with international subsea capacity on both the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) and Apricot systems.

This collaboration is expected to significantly enhance the network architecture managed by Bru-Haas, which includes Points of Presence (PoP) in Brunei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Angola, and Los Angeles.

With access to the Asia America Gateway and Southeast Asia Japan Cable Systems, among other regional cable systems, Bru-Haas is now even better positioned to deliver superior connectivity solutions.

The partnership between PLDT Global and Bru-Haas is built on a foundation of mutual support in providing reliable connectivity solutions.

This MOU reinforces their commitment to leveraging advanced subsea infrastructure to meet the growing demand for high-speed, low-latency connectivity across key regions.

The ADC is an intra-Asia submarine cable system designed to link Southeast Asia, China, and Japan. It plays a critical role in bolstering regional connectivity, providing a robust and resilient infrastructure that supports the increasing data traffic and digital needs of the region.

On the other hand, the Apricot cable system is a state-of-the-art Asia Pacific submarine network that connects Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Guam, and Japan.

This system is pivotal in enhancing connectivity between these regions, ensuring seamless data flow, and supporting the digital transformation initiatives of businesses and consumers alike.

As to the strategic partnership, this is poised to deliver numerous benefits including increased network redundancy, improved resilience, and enhanced capacity to handle the growing data demands of the enterprise market.

By integrating ADC and Apricot into Bru-Haas' existing network infrastructure, both companies aim to provide their customers with more reliable and high-speed connectivity options.

Dai Song, Managing Director of Bru-Haas said "we are excited to strengthen our collaboration with PLDT Global through this MOU. By integrating the Asia Direct Cable and Apricot subsea cable systems into our network, we are significantly enhancing our capability to deliver high-speed, low-latency connectivity solutions across key regions."
