BUTUAN CITY – The opening of classes in public and private schools on Monday, July 29, in the Caraga region was generally peaceful, police said.
“Everything is normal and no untoward incident,” said PRO-13 Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer.

PRO-13 mobilized close to 1,000 police officers and force multipliers to ensure security in schools. The Philippine Army supported PRO-13.
PRO-13 established Police Assistance Desks (PADs) in strategic areas in the region to respond to the needs of students, teachers, and parents.
“The PRO-13 rank-and-file is now on alert to prevent crimes that may be committed by exploiters,” PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Alan M. Nazarro said.
Nazarro encouraged the public to report suspicious activities to the police. “Your PNP will be able to respond immediately and ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school personnel,” he said.
PRO-13 will intensify police visibility in areas of jurisdictions to prevent crimes, Ometer said. “This is one of the effective ways to safeguard students and teachers from any untoward incidents and crimes.”
