After resetting the national record during the preliminary heats with a time of 53.67 seconds, the 23-year-old Fil-Canadian swimmer came out a little slower after clocking in 54.21sec in the semifinal.

She finished seventh in her heat and 15th overall, completely missing out on the Top 8 that would advance to the final.

Tokyo Olympics silver and Asian Games gold medalist Sobhan Haughey of Hong Kong topped the finalists with a time of 52.64sec, 1.57sec clear of Sanchez’s time.
